Tree Planting Preparation: Fertilization
The land leveling and wire mesh fencing of our cherry orchard in Dalbahçe, Manisa, were complete. It was time to prepare the soil with Fertilization before planting the saplings.
Soil Preparation:
Firstly, the organic matter content in the soil was quite low as the excavation works in the field had just been completed. I needed to increase the organic matter. The most suitable method for this was to enrich the soil with organic matter using animal manure.
First, I started looking for places that sell cow manure. It was important that the manure was not fresh and had been left under the sun to burn well. I knew that if I used unburned animal manure, there would be a risk of maggots and diseases.

After finding the burnt animal manure, I brought it to the field and gathered it in one place. Then, I made an agreement with someone who had a manure spreader attached to a tractor to distribute the manure. I had it spread evenly over the surface of the soil.

The soil fertilization process was completed before planting. Now, it was time to mix the animal manure I had poured with the soil and plow the soil so that the roots of the seedlings could develop comfortably.
