Irrigation
Irrigation, the source of life, is also of vital importance for cherry trees. Learning when and how much to irrigate was a critical step for the success of my orchard.
First, I needed to determine how much water my cherry trees needed. For this purpose, I started researching and learned about irrigation calculation programs like Climwat and Lincoln Agritech. Considering the seasonal conditions in Manisa Turgutlu, soil structure, tree age, and regional rainfall, I calculated the water needs of my cherry trees for each season. Taking advantage of my background as a mechanical engineer, I did the calculations for the drip irrigation system myself and ordered the necessary materials. After completing the installation of the pipes, I started daily irrigation according to the irrigation program in the table below.
Trees are like our children. They cannot develop healthily if we give them too much water or not enough. As always, it is essential to give cherry trees as much water as they need.
